I draw inspiration from exploring perceptual potential of everyday material. Through contemplating on the connections between space, site, display and everyday life, I guide the audience to probe into the imagination and signification introduced by my work through ambiguity, blurriness, ambivalence, polysemy, and relative openness as they walk through a certain space.
As the sun sets on a certain day, the slanting sunlight cascades through the windows of the artist's studio, moving slowly as time progresses and shining on the work table, piles of material, the floor and the walls. Through the floating dust, rays of light become clearly visible. It is at such moment that the artist becomes aware of the everydayness at work.
I observe the spatial-temporal relation embodied by my creation of stone sculpture, and create 3.14 I 1/60. I first create the stone spin axes based on the distance of every second on the circumference, and utilizes the moving and piling of stone powder to convey the temporality of stone sculpture. Through moving, heaping up, spoiling and restoring, the bottom of the stone and the stone powder consequently produce spatial and structural relations involving "piles, lines, and planes," demonstrating the deconstruction of material, the reconstruction of boundary, and the mutual infiltration of internal and external sites. I calls such space shaped by these elements a site of noise interference. Like flying dust produced by carving stone, the work will eventually return to a state of calmness after these changes of spatial relations.
